A panel of interesting and dynamic BISD graduates who are pursuing careers in public service, music, STEM, and business

What: How do recent graduates feel about their public school education? What has served them well and what would they change? What do they believe today’s students need to be successful in an ever-changing world?

Meet our panelists:
Danielle Bogardus

Danielle Bogardus

Danielle Bogardus graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2014 and she is now a senior at the University of Washington. During her time at the UW, she created an independent research project that focuses on waste management in remote developing communities. This has taken her to the remote Amazonian jungle of Peru, as well as Soddo Ethiopia, in the pursuit of designing a toolkit that incorporates waste auditing, water sampling, and cultural research, to find solutions for waste management and healthy living for communities globally. She will return to Peru and Ethiopia within the next year to further this work.

Mitchell Main

Mitchell Main

Mitchell Main graduated Bainbridge High School in 2010. He went on to attend George Fox University, graduating in 2014 with a degree in Mathematics with a focus on Numerical Computation Methods. In the real world, Mitch has journeyed through the Seattle Technology scene working at Avalara, Moz, PipelineDeals, and finally Tideworks Technology. Over his time in Technology, Mitch has established himself as a young sought after Data Scientist and Business Analyst, specializing in Data Warehousing and Marketing Analytics.

Hannah Parrot

Hannah Parrot

Hannah Parrott graduated from Eagle Harbor High School in 2010. Since graduation, Hannah has studied and obtained a degree in music composition and is now working in Los Angeles as a composer for film and television. She currently writes music for networks such as the BBC, History Channel, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel in addition to collaborating with independent filmmakers.

Nikolas Tsolomitis

Nikolas Tsolomitis

Nikolas Tsolomitis graduated from BHS in 2007. He attended Gonzaga University and graduated with a BA in History in 2011. During this time, he became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Wanting to be fully prepared to enter the field of education, he completed a 13-month Master’s in Teaching. After substituting in the Bainbridge Island School District, Nikolas was hired to teach 6th grade Social Studies and Language Arts at Sakai Intermediate School. Nikolas serves Sakai through a number of positions, which include contributing as a member of the Sakai Cabinet leadership team, as the Sakai representative for the BISD Technology Leadership team, and as the co-leader of Sakai’s after-school Math Club.
